The present study aims to explore and explain the behaviors of expert and novice teachers in classrooms equipped with educational technology, with a more precise focus on the utilization of smartboards, via eye-tracking technology. The study aims to evaluate experienced and less-experienced teachers in terms of technology integration, classroom management, and instructional delivery. Using a mixed-methods approach, data was collected through eye-tracking, in-class video recordings, and retrospective and reflective interviews with participating teachers. The findings reveal significant variations in the use of visual attention and classroom management gaze, indicating differing approaches to engaging students and managing classroom dynamics. The results also highlight the challenges and benefits associated with the use of smartboards in teaching. This research contributes to the field of educational technology by providing empirical evidence via eye tracking metrics, in addition to teachers’ self-reported opinions and reflections on the impact of smartboards on their teaching practices and offers some suggestions to improve teacher training and professional development.
