Families who are non skilled, cannot find employment opportunities in any field, do not have land to work or have too little land and cannot make a living, work as seasonal migrant agricultural workers (SMAWs) and migrate to different regions engaged in agricultural production in Türkiye. Almost all of the family members participate in seasonal agricultural work that starts in March April and continues until November in some cases. This situation causes children of compulsory education age, who are members of the family, to stay away from their schools. Even though ―the right to education applies to everyone‖ principle is guaranteed by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Turkish Constitute, some of the children, including children of SMAWs, at the age of basic education cannot benefit from this right mainly due to the poverty of their families. Most of the time, children who could not benefit from their right to education or whose education was interrupted because they had to travel with their families, could not break the chain of poverty by losing their chance to gain social upward mobility through education. On the other hand, it is known from the studies carried out within the scope of elimination of child labour, there are youths who have continued their education despite all the difficult conditions and poverty of their families and have been able to go to university and have a job. So, this doctoral thesis, by focusing on the lives of these youths, aims to find answers to the questions of what happened, how these children succeeded, had a chance to go to university. The thesis aims to understand the points that distinguish these youths, who were able to go to university and even have a profession, from other youths who continue their lives as seasonal agricultural workers. While trying to understand the stories of these youths, the patterns behind this success are tried to be determined and examined. The main points identified are addressed by drawing attention to personal, social and structural dimensions.
