Fatih Canatan

Fatih Canatan was born in 1948. He completed his undergraduate education at METU Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in 1970. He completed his master's degree in the same department in 1971. He received his doctorate from the University of London in 1975. He worked as an assistant in METU Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in 1971-72, as an instructor in 1976-77, as an assistant professor in 1977-85, and as an associate professor in 1985-89. He became Professor in 1989. He served as Head of METU Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department between 1995-2001. Between 1972 and 1975, he worked at the University of London, UCL Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, on the development project of the Chieftain tank antenna system of the SRDE organization affiliated with the British Ministry of Defence. Since 1983, he worked as a consultant at Aselsan for many years. Between 1990 and 1994, he worked on the project of making an EDT/ECT prototype working in the millimeter band at the METU Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department of the Undersecretariat for Defense Industries and developed the user interface and algorithms. With this device study successfully completed and actively in the relevant laboratory, the project team started working with Prof. Dr. He was deemed worthy of an award by the Mustafa Parlar Foundation.
