Optical imaging and spectroscopic observation of the galactic supernova remnant G85.9-0.6
GÖK, FATMA; Sezer, A.; Aktekin, E.; Guever, T.; Ercan, N. (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2009-11-01)
Optical CCD imaging with H alpha and [SII] filters and spectroscopic observations of the galactic supernova remnant G85.9-0.6 have been performed for the first time. The CCD image data are taken with the 1.5 m Russian-Turkish Telescope (RTT150) at TBA degrees TAK National Observatory (TUG) and spectral data are taken with the Bok 2.3 m telescope on Kitt Peak, AZ.

Optical observations of the Be/X-ray transient system KS 1947+300
Kiziloglu, U.; Baykal, Altan; Kiziloglu, N. (Wiley, 2007-01-01)
ROTSE-IIId observations of the Be/X-ray transient system KS 1947+300 obtained between September 2004 and December 2005 make it possible to study the correlation between optical and X-ray activity. The optical outburst of 0.1 mag was accompanied by an increase of the X-ray flux in the 2004 observations. A strong correlation between the optical and X-ray light curves suggests that the neutron star directly accretes from the outflowing material of the Be star. The nearly zero time lag between X-ray and optical...
Radiation-hardness studies of high OH- content quartz fibres irradiated with 500 MeV electrons

We investigated the darkening of nine high OH- fibre types irradiated with 500 MeV electrons from the Linac Injector of LEP (LIL) at CERN. The transmission of Xe light was measured in situ in the 350-800 nm range. The induced attenuation at 450 nm is typically 1.52+/-0.15 dB/m for a 100 Mrad absorbed dose. Two-parameter fits for darkening and recovery are presented. After irradiation the tensile strength remains essentially unchanged. For Polymicro quartz core fibres the tensile strength is typically 4.6+/-...
Imaging-based attitude determination algorithm for small satellites: Design and the preliminary results
Güzel, Mehmet Burak; Söken, Halil Ersin; Tekinalp, Ozan (2020-01-01)
Limitations for small satellite missions encourages researchers and engineers to use on-board equipment for multiple tasks. Thus, both space can be saved and the equipment redundancy can be prevented. For Earth-imaging satellites a prominent equipment that can be used for multiple purposes is the camera. Other than the observation, the taken images can be used as measurements for determining the absolute or relative attitude of the spacecraft. Depending on also the content of the image (e.g. stars, Earth, M...
