Zühal Küçükyavuz

Zühal Küçükyavuz was born in 1943. She completed her higher education at Ankara University, Faculty of Science, Department of Chemistry in 1965 with a master's degree in chemistry. After working for a short time at the R&D department of the Ministry of National Defense, she joined the METU Chemistry Department as an assistant in 1966. After earning her doctorate in 1973, she conducted postdoctoral research at the Macromolecular Chemistry Department of the University of Akron, USA, in 1973-74. Prof. Küçükyavuz joined the METU Chemistry Department in 1974 and served as a lecturer, assistant professor, associate professor and professor, respectively. Her scientific research focused primarily on solution properties of polymers, conductive polymers and composites. In addition to her academic activities at the Chemistry Department, she contributed to the Polymer Science and Technology and Micro and Nanotechnology programs of the Institute of Science as an instructor, researcher and administrator. In her academic life of over 40 years, she taught many undergraduate and graduate courses and supervised many graduate and doctoral theses. After retiring in 2010, he continued his teaching activities for a few more years.
