The General Directorate of Higher Education of the Ministry of National Education has prepared a bill regarding the Middle East Technical University becoming autonomous and being included within the scope of the University Law. It was announced that the bill regarding the autonomous status of METU, which has been governed by the Board of Trustees for years and is claimed to be under the control of the government, will be immediately forwarded to the Council of Ministers.
