Educational buildings are one of the most important cultural heritage sites. Historical educational buildings are symbolic buildings in the regions where they are located. They are not only educational institutions but also collective memories, especially in rural areas. With the proclamation of the Republic, an education campaign was launched across the country. Especially with the transition to the Latin alphabet, primary education became more important. Primary education was the priority area in this campaign. For this reason, school buildings for primary education were started to be built all over the country. Taking into account the financial and economic conditions of the period, type primary school projects were prepared to be implemented in various regions of Turkey. These projects, prepared especially by architects Kemalettin and Mukbil Kemal, were also implemented in other cities such as Konya, Antep and Uşak. These schools were usually named Gazi, Hürriyet or Cumhuriyet elementary schools. The buildings, in which traditional and modern construction technologies were used together, were built with the stone masonry wall technique and have a neoclassical style. Therefore, these buildings are some of the important examples of the 1st national architectural movement. As in many cities of Turkey, educational buildings were built in Denizli within the scope of this educational mobilization. There are "Gazi Primary Schools" in six districts of Denizli. Gazi primary schools in Denizli are the applications of the type projects prepared by Mukbil Kemal. These buildings built from the same type project have shown different changes in different contexts. This thesis, which aims to develop conservation strategies that will respond to today's needs and make them suitable for reuse by examining the value problems and potentials of Gazi primary school buildings, methodologically consists of literature review, archival research and fieldwork.Through these methods, the thesis examines the conservation and adaptation of modern heritage and modern educational buildings, educational policies in the early years of the republic, fieldwork and the buildings that are the subject of the research. In the light of this information, conservation principles and strategies were developed for Gazi Primary Schools.
