The study by Professors İlhan Meriç and Alvin Cohen (here after referred to as IMAC) published in this Studies, is to be com mended for its approach to the analysis of the existence of surplus labour. Quantitative analysis of such important theoretical questi ons not only will give us magnitudes as data for policy-making but sometimes will dispel the mythical charateristics of the problem under study.
