This paper reports on the preliminary findings of a study which attempts to measure the responsiveness of Turkish farmers to economic variables in general and changes in prices in particular. In this paper, the short-run and long-run elasticities are estimated for two major annual crops, namely wheat and cotton for the period of 1955-1975. The basic model employed is a modified, for equation version of Nerlove's dynamic supply response model. The preliminary results suggest that both wheat and cotton producers respond positively and significantly to price changes. The results also suggest that both in the short-run and long-run cotton supply is relatively more responsive to price changes than wheat.
