Sexist humor is a part of everyday life and is related to different social and psychological factors. This thesis aims to investigate individuals' attitudes toward sexist humor in Türkiye. Moreover, it aims to examine whether ambivalent sexism, humor styles, cavalier humor beliefs, feminist identification, and gender predict attitudes toward sexist humor. Since no existing scale measured attitudes toward sexist humor, a new scale was developed as part of this thesis. Therefore, 351 participants completed different scales and responded to questions: Attitudes Toward Sexist Humor Scale, Ambivalent Sexism Scale, Feminist Identification Scale, Cavalier Humor Beliefs Scale, Humor Styles Scale, gender connotation question, and demographic form. Firstly, the factor analysis revealed that there were two factors for attitudes toward sexist humor, namely positive attitudes toward sexist humor and negative attitudes toward sexist humor. Further, the results of the gender difference showed that men have more positive and less negative attitudes toward sexist humor compared to women but gender does not predict attitudes toward sexist humor in the regression. Moreover, hierarchical regression analyses revealed that cavalier humor beliefs, aggressive humor, self-defeating humor, hostile sexism positively, and only benevolent sexism negatively predict positive attitudes toward sexist humor. Also, humorous content following frequency, cavalier humor beliefs, aggressive humor, and affiliative humor negatively predict negative attitudes toward sexist humor. However, self-enhancing humor, benevolent sexism, and feminist identification positively predict negative attitudes toward sexist humor. Lastly, the findings were discussed with the existing literature, and the strengths, limitations, and recommendations for future research were provided.
