This thesis examines the value series published as first reading books by publishing houses following the Ministry of National Education's Values Education Circular, with a focus on children's autonomy. The content analysis of the books was conducted through the lens of the freedom/obedience and subjectivity/passivity dichotomies. The findings indicate that these value series do not position children as evaluators, but rather present content that passivizes children and forces them to conform to value judgments. The thesis argues that materials conveying values in a way that supports children's autonomy should involve content that encourages participation, asks questions, engages in dialogue, and fosters curiosity.
