Drainage and ground settlement problems are common in modern heritage buildings. There is no specific study on how to solve drainage and settlement problems in reinforced concrete modern heritage buildings, especially with cost-effective and sustainable solutions by addressing time-related deterioration and damage with a conservationist approach. In the case of METU Sosyal Bina, this study aims to evaluate and compare possible solutions for ground and foundation improvement in terms of being the most appropriate, cost-effective, and sustainable, considering the heritage values of the modern heritage buildings. In this study, data on damages to the building is collected during the site survey. Then laboratory tests are carried out on the ground surveys for drainage and settlement, the main problems identified in the building. As a result of the test results obtained and the evaluations made from the archive scanning of the building from the construction of the building to the present day, the leading causes of damage are associated with the damages that have occurred in the building, and a literature review is made for possible appropriate solutions to these problems. As a result of these studies, an assessment is made that is supporting decision-making in selecting the best ground and foundation improvement intervention solution for modern heritage buildings and can be used in other modern heritage buildings with similar problems on the METU campus.
