Rural landscapes emerge as a cumulative result of the harmonic interactions and relationships that humans establish with nature over time in order to meet their needs in line with their values, beliefs and competence; It consists of environmental, cultural, social and economic components. Rural landscapes composed of these components possess the capability of self-sustainability; however, the increasing pressure of human activities on nature, changing living conditions, and growing human needs following the Industrial Revolution have impacted this self-sustaining capability and caused irreversible damage. Nusratlı Village, located on the northern coast of the Edremit Gulf and dating back to the 16th century, is an essential part of the Yalı Kolu rural landscape network, shaped by olive cultivation and the Yörük culture. However, the transformation brought about by industrial, tourism, transportation, and infrastructure projects in the surrounding region poses a threat to the historic rural landscape of Nusratlı Village. In the face of this rapid and impactful transformation, strategies must be developed to sustain the values of the rural landscape.Within the scope of this study, a theoretical framework was first established regarding the concepts of rural landscape and sustainability. Subsequently, research and evaluations were conducted in three stages to analyze the transformations occurring on a regional and environmental scale. In the first two stages, the northern Coast of Edremit Gulf and the Yalı Kolu rural landscape network were examined. Finally, based on the data obtained, sustainability-driven conservation principles were developed to address the factors threatening the Nusratlı Village rural landscape.
