Construction of cryptographically strong boolean functions well suited for symmetric cryptosystems
Ahmed Khan, Mansoor; Özbudak, Ferruh; Department of Cryptography (2013)
Boolean functions are amongst the vital ingredients of any symmetric cryptosystem in order to implement principles of confusion and di usion. These are utilized as non-linear filtering functions or combiner functions in LFSR-based stream ciphers and as s-box component functions or non-linear encryption functions in Fiestel structure based block ciphers. Consequently, the cryptographic properties of Boolean functions are amongst the main contributors to the strength of these ciphers against cryptanalysis. Th...
Chaos from equivariant fields on fuzzy S4
Coşkun, Ü. H.; Kürkcüoğlu, Seçkin; Toga, G. C.; Ünal, G. (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2018-12)
We examine the 5d Yang-Mills matrix model in 0 + 1-dimensions with U(4N) gauge symmetry and a mass deformation term. We determine the explicit SU(4) ≈ SO(6) equivariant parametrizations of the gauge field and the fluctuations about the classical four concentric fuzzy four sphere configuration and obtain the low energy reduced actions(LEAs) by tracing over the SF 4s for the first five lowest matrix levels. The LEAs so obtained have potentials bounded from below indicating that the equivariant fluctuations ab...

Mathematical modeling of swelling in high moisture whey protein gels
Öztop, Halil Mecit (Elsevier BV, 2011-09-01)
Gels prepared from whey proteins can be used for controlled release of nutrients or active ingredients in food systems. The objective of this study was to characterize the water uptake by these hydrophilic gels to aid in the design of release systems. Whey protein isolate (WPI) gels (17% w/w protein) of different aspect ratios were submersed in aqueous solution at pH 7.0. Modeling of mass uptake is presented in terms of Case I (Fickian diffusion) and Case II (kinetic) models. Due to the extent of swelling, ...
EQUIVALENT STRAIN AND STRESS HISTORY IN TORSION TESTS
TEKKAYA, AE (1994-02-01)
Bulk and plane torsion tests are being used in industry to determine the flow curve of metals up to very high plastic strains. Despite their wide usage the experimental results obtained in torsion tests are still not being evaluated uniformly. Differences arise basically due to the conversion of the measured angle of twist into the corresponding equivalent strain. This paper shows that the often used equivalent strain expression by Nadai and Davis as well as Eichinger is invalid, since the so-called redunda...
