It is possible that a technical university will start operating in Ankara within a few years. Some people state that the Regional Architecture Academy to be established soon will serve as the nucleus for a technical university. The committee, which continues to meet today under the chairmanship of the deputy at the Ministry of Education, is still busy giving shape to this academy. Such a meeting was held 3-4 months ago and the first draft was prepared. The technical staff necessary for the collective development activities of the country will be trained in this academy. However, some educationalists are against this providing only architectural education. In this respect, it is desired that the school be a technical school that will train architects and engineers at a mediocre level and that it will be transformed into a technical university by being organized in the future. This aspect has led to discussions in the committee. It is also possible that the school will be named the Regional Technology Institute. The education of the school will be focused especially on urban and village architecture. The United Nations Cultural Organization is also involved in the establishment of the school. Financial opportunities will be provided through this channel. Dean of the Faculty of Architecture of the American University of Pennsylvania Prof. G. Holmes Perkins, Head of Regional Planning Von Wilhelm V. Moltkl, Associate Professor of Architecture of the Academy of Fine Arts of the University of Pennsylvania Leon Loschetter are also participating in the meetings.
