From Our Special Reporter The decree prepared by the Ministry of Education regarding the establishment of the Middle East Technical University in Ankara has been approved by the board of deputies and thus made official. Middle East Technical University (METU) has emerged as a new organization, different from our other universities. Therefore, the government will submit a draft law to the Parliament on this issue. The university will start operating as of the next academic year. It will start its first education in rented buildings and the number of students will be between 200 and 250. Most of the professors will be provided from America, the language will be English and it will be under the supervision of the Ministry of Education. The financial resources of the university will be provided by the United Nations and the aid allocated by America to foreign countries and by our government. The university, which will be open to students from all Middle Eastern countries, will be subject to a fee as in America. After the university is completed, it will be able to educate at least 10 thousand students. For this reason, we are busy with the acquisition of 2,000 acres of land in our city for the university site.
