Conviviality is a multifaceted concept that deepens the socio-cultural context and fosters vibrant, social, and inclusive spaces through shared experiences. It encompasses events such as festivals, concerts, performances, art installations, parades, and sports activities in urban environments. This study aims to explore how convivial gatherings are influenced by the spatial morphology of the urban fabric, with a particular focus on configurational features such as connectivity, integrity, and nodality within the urban network structure. To achieve this, the research conducts a case study in Alsancak, a central district in Izmir known for hosting various urban events and activities that promote the conviviality of local life. Following a literature review characterizing different types of convivial events and activities in global cities, the study presents a focused case study mapping all activities taking place in Alsancak. The mapping study, in turn, serves as the basis for a spatial analysis of activity patterns within the site. In this context, Space Syntax analysis is employed to uncover the intrinsic configurational features of the urban fabric that facilitate specific types of conviviality. Ultimately, this thesis proposes a methodological framework for a comprehensive morphological understanding of conviviality, offering design guidance for creating more livable cities.
