Optimization of microwave frying of osmotically dehydrated potato slices by using response surface methodology
Öztop, Halil Mecit; Şahin, Serpil; Şümnü, Servet Gülüm (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2007-04-01)
Microwave frying of osmotically dehydrated potatoes was optimized by using response surface methodology. Osmotic dehydration was applied prior to microwave frying in order to reduce oil uptake and to evaluate the effect of osmotic dehydration on quality of microwave fried potatoes. Moisture content, oil content, hardness and color of the fried potatoes were used as quality parameters. Microwave power level (400, 550, 700 W), frying time (1.5, 2.0, 2.5 min) and osmotic dehydration time (15, 30, 45 min) were ...
OPTIMIZATION OF SILICON-OXYNITRIDE THIN FILMS FOR CRYSTALLINE SILICON (C-Si) PERC CELL
Canar, Hasan Hüseyin; Turan, Raşit; Erçelebi, Ayşe Çiğdem; Department of Physics (2022-6)
PECVD deposited SiNx has been used in PV industry especially for PERC solar cell as anti-reflection coating (ARC) and passivating layer [1]. However, its limited optical and electrical properties create a barrier for achieving higher solar cell efficiencies. For that reason, an alternative is introduced that is SiOxNy thin film with adjustable refractive index can be tuned as low as SiO2 [2]. In this thesis, deposited SiNx and SiOxNy films were characterized by various measurement methods such as SE, FTIR,...
Optimization of supercritical CO2 extraction of Thymbra spicata oil
Sonsuzer, S; Şahin, Serpil; Yılmaz, Levent (Elsevier BV, 2004-07-01)
The supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) of aroma compounds from Thymbra spicata was studied. Response surface methodology (RSM) was used to optimize the parameters of the supercritical fluid extraction. Independent variables were temperature (40, 50 and 60 degreesC), pressure (80, 100 and 120 bar) and time (30, 60 and 90 min). Dependent variables were yield, monoterpene, sesquiterpene and oxygenated monoterpene contents.
Optimization of microwave-halogen lamp baking of bread
Demirekler, Pınar; Şümnü, Servet Gülüm; Department of Food Engineering (2004)
The main objective of this study was to optimize the processing conditions of breads baked in halogen lamp-microwave combination oven by using response surface methodology. It was also aimed to construct neural network models for the prediction of quality parameters of bread as a function of processing conditions. Different baking time and power combinations were used in order to find the optimum baking conditions of bread in halogen lamp-microwave combination oven. The independent variables were the baking...
