Development of three way catalytic converter for automotive exhaust gas
Bayram, Bilal; Külah, Görkem; Önal, Işık; Department of Chemical Engineering (2021-7-9)
In this study, a novel perovskite-based three-way catalyst (LaFe0.57Co0.37Pd0.06O3/Ce0.8Zr0.2O2/Al2O3) with high performance, thermal stability and SO2 poisoning resistance was developed. The performance of the developed catalyst was compared to a standard catalyst based on dispersed metal (Pd/Rh/ Ce0.8Zr0.2O2 / Al2O3). Performance evaluations were carried out in a dynamic activity test system that simulates redox fluctuations in the exhaust of gasoline engines. ICP-OES, BET surface area, X-ray diffraction,...

Development of half bridge module based power converters for electric machine test setups
Yazıcı, Özgür; Bostancı Özkan, Emine; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2022-12-15)
Electric machines need to be tested in laboratory conditions by using machine test systems in order to make sure they perform as intended. However, most of the time it is very difficult to replace the components of an electric machine test system. Usually, their mechanical design is not suitable for different frame sizes and their power converters can drive only a single type machine. So, each setup can be used with a very limited range of electrical machines. This study aims to design and implement an elec...
Development of solid sodium borohydride hydrogen gas generator for portable pem fuel cell applications
Boran, Aslı; Eroğlu, İnci; Department of Chemical Engineering (2018)
Hydrogen is considered as a promising candidate to replace fossil fuels. For implementing a hydrogen based infrastructure, hydrogen storage is the mainobstacle that is needed to be overcome. Being boron based compound, sodium borohydride, NaBH4, is a convenient hydrogen storage material for applications like unmanned air vehicles. There are several issues behind commercialization of NaBH4 hydrolysis systems. This doctorate thesis aims to be solution of NaBH4 hydrolysis system by highlighting three main cont...
Development of a 3 axes PC numerical control system for industrial applications
Başar, Feza; Hızal, Mirzahan; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2003)
In this study, a three-axes PC numerical control system for industrial applications has been developed. With this system, fast and cheap prototyping of designed objects can be realized. The system consists of software and a hardware which includes an XYZ positioning table and three step motors controlling this table. A proper drive circuit for the stepper motors is utilized. The software digitizes two dimensional drawings of three dimensional objects and generates the control signals for the XYZ positioning...
