The current study aimed to gain an in-depth understanding of Roma early adolescents‘ experiences of subjective well-being in public middle schools. Additionally, this study emphasized how Roma early adolescents made meaning of their current circumstances in school by listening to their narratives and allowing them to raise their voices. Using purposive sampling, the study was conducted with 12 Roma early adolescents, aged between 11 and 14, attending four different public middle schools in the Körfez district of Kocaeli. Semi-structured and face-to-face interviews were conducted with each of the 12 participants. The data were analyzed using interpretative phenomenological analysis, resulting in two group experiential themes. These were “They face challenges in adapting to the school system” and “Middle school is the last opportunity to engage with the educational system.” Findings were discussed based on the related literature, implications for practice, and recommendations for further research were presented.
