Disasters have a devastating effect on a global scale and disasters use the same language everywhere. However, with the measures to be taken, their effects can be reduced. The presence of different cultures and lifestyles with different economies in the world varies on a country basis in terms of the effects of disaster. An earthquake disaster of the same magnitude varies according to the fragility of societies. Pre-disaster preparation and loss reduction studies are as important as damage, loss and post-emergency needs assessment studies. Strategies have also started to take place in development plans of countries which are determination of needs with previous disaster experiences, evaluation of emergency and disaster related likely results. In addition, framework programs and guides also support disaster risk reduction studies of societies. Civil initiatives and NGOs need to research mitigation methods and learn lessons from natural disaster according to communities experiencing natural disasters. It should strive to research for communities in disaster risk areas and disseminate the most appropriate tools for risk reduction. As an example of this, the studies of the civil initiative TRIDRR were emphasized within the scope of the study.
