This paper focuses on the role of Virtual Synchronous Generator (VSG) control in mitigating oscillation instabilities, which are critical in power systems with high renewable penetration. Through modal analysis and time-domain simulations, the effectiveness of VSG control, particularly when augmented with a power system stabilizer (PSS), is demonstrated in damping inter-area oscillations. The results underscore the potential of VSG control as a key technology for the reliable integration of renewable energy into modern power systems.
