Flexural failure is a ductility failure. It includes the ability to sustain large deformations, and a capacity to absorb energy. Shear failure is a brittle failure. For obvious reasons, brittle failure must be avoided. In this study, it is aimed retrofitting of shear deficient reinforced concrete beams by bonding of steel plates in three different ways. Failure modes, ductility and absorbed energy were examined for retrofitted beam specimens.
