METU's volleyball team was playing in the lower leagues. They had one last match to advance to the upper league: a match against DSI Water Sports at Selim Sırrı Tarcan Hall. The winner would advance to the upper league. A busload of METU students packed the hall and won the match 3-2. We were delighted to watch the magnificent performances of Fatih, a nature photographer who had been a TV announcer; Süleyman, nicknamed Pinocchio, who now lives in Sweden; and İlhan Yamanoğlu, who was going to become a mechanical engineer.
