Thousands of students, with high scores, came to METU, and indeed to the Preparatory School, from all corners of our country (just like today). From Ankara's renowned high schools (Ankara Gazi High School, Atatürk Girls' and Boys' High Schools, Kurtuluş High School, Yenimahalle High School, etc.), İzmir Atatürk and Namık Kemal High School, etc., as well as from Edirne, Balıkesir, Diyarbakır, Gaziantep, Adana, the Black Sea region... To introduce them, integrate them, and get them used to the school, a "Meeting Tea" was held. You could bring your sibling, or your Sweethart if you had one. We would drink soft drinks and tea together, eat cake, and dance to the music (orchestra). This created an atmosphere for first encounters. (Notes by Hüseyin Kabahasanoğlu)
