Production and characterization of lead zirconate titanate and lead magnesium niobate-lead titanate piezoceramics
Taşpınar, Ercan; Timuçin, Muharrem; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (1997)
Production and structural characterization of iron-boron nanoalloys
Fadaie, Amir; Mekhrabov, Amdulla O.; Akdeniz, Mahmut Vedat; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2014)
The purpose of this study was production and structural characterization of Fe-B crystalline /amorphous nanocomposite powders. In the theoretical part of the study, detailed nanoscale structures of Fe80B20 and Fe85B15 metallic glasses were investigated using Molecular Dynamics (MD) method as well as several structural analysis tools. In the experimental part of the study, Fe80B20 and Fe85B15 crystalline /amorphous nanocomposite powders have been synthesized by using surfactant-assisted high-energy ball mill...
Production and characterization of boron containing flame retardant polyamide-6 and polypropylene composites and fibers
Doğan, Mehmet; Bayramlı, Erdal; Department of Polymer Science and Technology (2011)
The main objective of this study was to produce flame retardant polyamide-6 (PA-6) and polypropylene (PP) composites and fibers containing boron compounds. The synergistic effect on flame retardancy of boron compounds (boron silicon containing oligomer (BSi), zinc borate (ZnB), boron phosphate (BPO4), metal oxide doped BPO4 and lanthanum borate (LaB)) with conventional flame retardants were investigated. The synergistic effect of nano-clay with commercial flame retardants was also investigated in order to r...
Production and characterization of magnesium oxychloride cement based polishing bricks for polishing of ceramic tiles
Özer, Muhammed Said; Öztürk, Abdullah; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2008)
Magnesium oxychloride cement (MOC) based grinding and polishing bricks developed for polishing of granite based ceramic tiles were produced and characterized. For surface grinding 46 and 180 grit size SiO2 powder embedded MOC based abrasive bricks; for polishing 600 and 1200 grit size SiC powder embedded MOC based abrasive bricks followed by neat (unreinforced) MOC pastes were applied on ceramic tiles. Three different neat MOC pastes depending on MgO/MgCl2 molar ratio in the paste e.g. 6/1, 7/1, and 8/1, we...
Production and characterization of magnesium oxychloride cement bricks for fine polishing of porcelain stoneware tiles
Özer, Mehmet Bülent; Öztürk, Abdullah (2011-09-01)
Magnesium oxychloride cement (MOC) polishing bricks developed for fine polishing of porcelain stoneware tiles were produced and characterized with respect to MgO/MgCl(2), molar ratio of 6/7, 7/1, and 8/1. X-Ray diffraction analysis revealed that the main crystalline phase formed in the bricks was 5Mg(OH)(2)center dot MgCl(2)center dot 8H(2)O. Density, abrasion resistance, compressive strength, and chemical durability in water of the MOC bricks were determined to provide information on polishing behavior. Po...
