Dynamic Modeling of the Universal Motor used in Washer
Polat, Abdullah; Ergene, Lale; Fırat, Arzu (2011-09-10)
In this paper, firstly, the structural features and operating conditions of a universal motor are presented. Alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) operating conditions of the motor and the difference between them are explained. Universal motors give similar speed and torque characteristics on both AC and DC operations when the effective current is kept equal. When AC and DC operations are compared, the differences arise because of, transformer voltage, armature reaction, reactance voltage, satura...
Dynamic modeling of optical systems in order to study vibration effect on performance
Avsar, Ahmet Levent; Özgüven, Hasan Nevzat (2010-08-03)
In order to determine the vibration effects on performance in optical system, a simple vibratory model is proposed. The model suggested is compared with FE model. Both models are validated by modal tests for an existing simple optical system. The material properties of adhesive, which play an imported role in the vibratory model of an optical system, are found experimentally by using a simple test setup. The model suggested is used to investigate the dynamic behavior of the optical system under random vibra...
Dynamic analysis of capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducers
Bayram, Barış; Kupnik, M; Ergun, AS; Oralkan, O; Nikoozadeh, A; Khuri-Yakub, BT (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2005-12-01)
Electrostatic transducers are usually operated under a DC bias below their collapse voltage. The same scheme has been adopted for capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducers (cMUTs). DC bias deflects the cMUT membranes toward the substrate, so that their centers are free to move during both receive and transmit operations. In this paper, we present time-domain, finite element calculations for cMUTs using LS-DYNA, a commercially available finite element package. In addition to this DC bias mode, other ne...
Dynamic mechanical analysis of provisional resin materials reinforced by metal oxides
Korkmaz, T; Doan, A; Usanmaz, Ali (2005-01-01)
In this study, several provisional resin materials were investigated by dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA). The materials were autopolymerized PMMA and PEMA, light cured PMMA. Autopolymerized PMMA has the highest T-g (131 degrees C) compared to that of the autopolymerized PEMA (102 degrees C) and light cured PMMA (120 degrees C). The storage moduli for autopolymerized PMMA, autopolymerized PEMA and light cured PMMA are 2.9, 1.8 and 2.3 GPa, respectively. The loss moduli of the same resins are 330, 300 and 35...
