1965, IBM 360 Computer

During my military service, I was asked to perform the static calculations for the Güvercinlik Gendarmerie Battalion building in Ankara (1974). Since my discharge was imminent, I needed to complete these calculations quickly. Therefore, I completed the static calculations on the IBM 360 computer at METU. This computer's main memory was probably 100 or 200 KB. We ran the program by punching cards with a punching machine and having the computer read these cards. Today, the flash drives pictured below can store 50,000 to 200,000 times more information than the IBM 1620, which has 40 KB of memory. (Ruhi Tarkan, METU Years)
