The present correlational study aimed to investigate the mediating role of academic resilience between self-compassion and academic motivation among Turkish college students. The sample consisted of 490 university students (78.5% female, 22.4% male) who volunteered to participate in the study. The participants were selected through convenience sampling method. Data were collected in paper-and-pencil format from different faculties, using the demographic information form, the Self Compassion Scale Short Form, the Academic Resilience Scale, and the Academic Motivation Scale. Before the main analyses, the validity and reliability of the scales and all necessary assumptions were checked. The hypothesized model was analyzed using Hayes Process Macro v4.3 (model 4). First, the bivariate correlation results indicated significant relationships for all variables in the study. Besides, the result of independent sample t-test indicated a statistically significant difference between male and female participants in terms of academic motivation and academic resilience. The main findings showed that academic resilience partially mediated the relationship between self-compassion and academic motivation among college students. The discussion was stated based on the findings of the study. Finally, the implications of the study and recommendations for future research were expressed.
