The purpose of present study was to investigate preservice science teachers’ perception of OE in terms of outdoor setting preferences. The 181 preservice science teachers participated in the Turkey.Survey research design was used. Qualitative data were collected via open-ended questions and survey questions. The Outdoor Setting Questionnaire was used as data collection tool that developed by Ernst and Tornabene (2012). Data were analyzed by using quantitative and qualitative analysis methods. Thequalitative data coded and transformed into qualitative form for frequency. In present study, while “water-related” outdoor settings were most preferred both personally and educationally, “grassy area/open field” were the least preferred ones for both categories. Also, these preferences included “green space with trees,” “presence of water,” and “give a sense of calmness and peace” characteristics that were consistent with the personal preferences of the participants. These were also consistent with the educational preferences of participants identified as “opportunities for structured learning about nature” and “natural area/s contain rich biodiversity and intersection area”.
