This study seeks explore how faculty members in higher education institutions perceive and experience interpersonal trust in their colleagues and administrators. Although trust is considered a critical element for collaboration, decision-making processes, and institutional commitment in workplaces, research specifically addressing interpersonal trust among faculty members in higher education is limited. In this context, the study employed a qualitative design and used data gathered from in-depth interviews with 14 faculty members. In the study, the conditions under which trust is built, the individual, relational, and organizational factors that strengthen and weaken trust, and the individual, professional and institutional outcomes of trust-based relationships are examined. The findings reveal that faculty members' perceptions of trust cannot be explained solely by personal characteristics but are also closely linked to structural elements such as organizational culture, managerial attitudes, transparency, and justice. Within the study, Blau (1964)'s Social Exchange Theory and Mayer et al. (1995)'s trust model were used as the theoretical framework. The study is expected to contribute to understanding the multi-layered nature of trust in higher education in Türkiye and to offer recommendations for developing more trust-based relationships in the academic environment.
