The Büyük Menderes Graben (BMG) is one of the most prominent extensional basins in Western Anatolia, characterized by active normal faulting and complex structural evolution. The previously suggested geometry and kinematic characteristics of the basin are generally based on surface data, which lacks the third dimension. The aim of this thesis is to unravel the kinematics and structural evolution of the BMG between Aydın Province and Kuyucak district, using 2D seismic reflection data and well log information. Through seismic interpretation and time-to-depth conversion, key fault sets and stratigraphic boundaries within the basin were identified and modeled in 3D. The study focuses on the fault characteristics and geometries, as well as the relationship between faulting and sedimentation, correlated with the common structural styles of the extensional basins. To complement the present-day activity of the graben-bounding faults, GPS and InSAR datasets were also utilized in the study. Results suggest that the BMG experienced a multi-stage deformation dominated by the southern graben-bounding fault, where the general structure of the basin is more complex than previously suggested. This research contributes to a better understanding of extensional tectonics in Western Anatolia, providing a basis for future studies involving the fault dynamics across the BMG.
