A Comparative Study on Distance Metrics in Self- Supervised Unstructured Road Detection Domain
Özütemiz, Kadri Buğra; Hacınecipoğlu, Akif; Koku, Ahmet Buğra; Konukseven, Erhan İlhan (2013-09-20)
In pattern recognition/machine learning domain, selecting appropriate distance metric for the problem to find the distance between feature vectors or the distance between a feature vector and decision boundary is important in order to have satisfying results from the algorithm designed. In this study, in order to find the most appropriate distance metric to use in classification of road/non-road regions in streaming images, 6 different distance metrics are implemented and their classification performances a...
A simulation study of ad hoc networking of UAVs with opportunistic resource utilization networks
Lilien, Leszek T.; BEN OTHMANE, Lotfi; Angın, Pelin; DECARLO, Andrew; Salih, Raed M.; BHARGAVA, Bharat (Elsevier BV, 2014-02-01)
Specialized ad hoc networks of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have been playing increasingly important roles in applications for homeland defense and security. Common resource virtualization techniques are mainly designed for stable networks; they fall short in providing optimal performance in more dynamic networks such as mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs)-due to their highly dynamic and unstable nature. We propose application of Opportunistic Resource Utilization Networks (Oppnets), a novel type of MANETs, ...
A STUDY OF IMPURITY EFFECT ON ORDERING CHARACTERISTICS OF FE3AL INTERMETALLICS
Mehrabov, Amdulla; Ozturk, T (Elsevier BV, 1994-03-01)
A study is carried out into energetical and structural characteristics of atomic ordering processes in Fe3Al. The statistico-thermodynamical theory of ordering by a quasichemical method is combined with the electronic theory of alloys in pseudopotential approximation in order to predict impurity effects on DO3 double-line arrow pointing left and right B2 phase transition temperature and the characteristics of atomic short-range order in Fe3Al-type intermetallics. Impurity elements in Fe3(Al, Me) Me-Cr, Si, ...
A computational study of a close-coupled delta canard-wing-body configuration
Tuncer, İsmail Hakkı; Vandyken, Robert B (1996-06-20)
Subsonic flowfields over a close-coupled delta canard-wing-body configuration at high angles of attack from 20° to 30' are computed using the OVERFLOW Navier-Stokes solver. Computed flowfields are presented in terms of particle traces, surface streamlines and leeward-side surface pressure distributions for the canard on and off configurations. The interaction between the canard and the wing vortices, wing vortex breakdown and the influence of the canard on vortex breakdown are identified. It is computed tha...
A parametric modeling study on distributed MEMS transmission lines
Unlu, M; Topalli, K; Demir, S; Aydın Çivi, Hatice Özlem; Koc, S; Akın, Tayfun (2004-10-14)
This paper presents a parametric study of a new model for the distributed MEMS transmission line (DMTL) structures. In this new model, the MEMS bridges which are used as the loading elements of the DMTL structures are represented as low-impedance transmission lines, rather than a lumped CLR circuit. The model also includes LC networks at the transition points from the MEMS bridges to the unloaded parts of the DMTL which are simply high-impedance transmission lines. These LC networks are employed to model th...
