Application of the H-N method to the critical slab problem for reflecting boundary conditions
Tureci, RG; Gulecyuz, MC; Kaskas, A; Tezcan, C (Elsevier BV, 2004-11-01)
The recently developed H-N method is used to solve the critical slab problem for a slab which is surrounded by a reflector. In the special case: for R = 0 (the reflection coefficient) the problem reduces to the one under vacuum boundary conditions. It is shown that the method is concise and leads to fast converging numerical results. The presented numerical results are compared with the data available in literature.
Application of Multivariate Adaptive Regression Splines to Sheet Metal Bending Process for Springback Compensation
Dilan, Rasim Askin; Balkan, Raif Tuna; Platin, Bülent Emre (EDP Sciences; 2016-07-07)
An intelligent regression technique is applied for sheet metal bending processes to improve bending performance. This study is a part of another extensive study, automated sheet bending assistance for press brakes. Data related to material properties of sheet metal is collected in an online manner and fed to an intelligent system for determining the most accurate punch displacement without any offline iteration or calibration. The overall system aims to reduce the production time while increasing the perfor...
Application of a three-dimensional numerical model to the idealized conditions of the bosphorus strait.
Sözer, Adil; Özsoy, Emin; Department of Marine Sciences (2002)
The Bosphorus Strait is a narrow and shallow channel between the Sea of Marmara and the Black Sea which plays an important role in the Turkish Straits System connecting the Black Sea and the Mediterranean Sea. The exchange flow through the Bosphorus Strait is principally determined by geometry and stratification, and exhibits a complex nonlinear response to forcing by the net water budget, pressure and wind setup effects in adjacent basins. This study aims for a better understanding of the behaviour of the ...
