A parylene based double-channel micro-electrophoresis system for rapid mutation detection
Külah, Haluk; Erson Bensan, Ayşe Elif; Sert, Cüneyt (null; 2007-10-08)
This paper presents the design and implementation of a double-channel micro-electrophoresis system for rapid mutation detection using heteroduplex analysis (HDA) method. The reported system implements two identical parylene channels located side-by-side, and allows HDA to be performed within a short separation length and time.
A Low cost learning based sign language recognition system
Akış, Abdullah Hakan; Akar, Gözde; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2018)
Sign Language Recognition (SLR) is an active area of research due to its important role in Human Computer Interaction (HCI). The aim of this work is to automatically recognize hand gestures consisting of the movement of hand, arm and fingers. To achieve this, we studied two different approaches, namely feature based recognition and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) based recognition. The first approach is based on segmentation, feature extraction and classification whereas the second one is based on segme...
A video tracker system for traffic monitoring and analysis
Ocaklı, Mehmet; Demirekler, Mübeccel; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2007)
In this study, a video tracker system for traffic monitoring and analysis is developed. This system is able to detect and track vehicles as they move through the camera’s field of view. This provides to perform traffic analysis about the scene, which can be used to optimize traffic flows and identify potential accidents. The scene inspected in this study is assumed stationary to achieve high performance solution to the problem. This assumption provides to detect moving objects more accurately, as well as ab...
A GIS-based Management System for Underground Mining Safety
Demirel, Nuray (Lambert Academic Publishing, 2010-01-01)
Mine safety is of paramount concern to the mining industry. In this sense the generation of a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) which can administrate relevant spatial data efficiently is a very vital issue for underground mining safety. In an effort to achieve a balance of safety and productivity, GIS can contribute to the creation of a safe working environment in underground (U/G) mining. Such a system should serve to a continuous risk analysis and be designed for applications in case of emergency. The...
A decision support system for assessing landfill performance
Celik, Basak; Girgin, Sertan; Yazıcı, Adnan; Ünlü, Kahraman (Elsevier BV, 2010-01-01)
Designing environmentally sound landfills is a challenging engineering task due to complex interactions of numerous design variables; such as landfill size, waste characteristics, and site hydrogeology. Decision support systems (DSS) can be utilized to handle these complex interactions and to aid in a performance-based landfill design by coupling system simulation models (SSM). The aim of this paper is to present a decision support system developed for a performance-based landfill design. The developed DSS ...
