To overcome the numerical inefficiency of getting the spatial-domain Green's functions, they are approximated by complex images using the Sommerfeld identity. It is found that the closed-form Green's functions are accurate for small and moderate distances and they may detoriate significantly beyond certain distances. Three possible sources of this problem are discussed and clarified the misunderstandings.
