The United Nations has been instrumental in supporting governments, civil society organizations and communities at international, national and subnational levels in cooperation with its stakeholders to achieve sustainable development. Its programmes and interventions designed to deliver results for supporting vulnerable people and systems strengthening are funded mostly by public donor countries for financing international development. However, given the recent sharp budget cuts in public funds due to financial and political developments at global level, the United Nations is going through an unprecedented financial and organizational crisis. Within this context, private sector financing has become more important at global level and in national context. Türkiye, as a member state, has ongoing programmes and interventions led by the United Nations which experience the same financial trends severely. This thesis aims to explore how the private sector financing can be enhanced in Türkiye through the collaboration of the United Nations and private sector. To this end, a dual approach consisting of desk review and field study (semi-structured interviews) was adopted to explore the barriers and enablers of increasing private sector financing in Türkiye context. The findings of the study were analyzed in depth within Türkiye context and concluded with some recommendations. In a nutshell, open, structured and intentional dialogue between two parties is essential not only to sort out various matters on communication, administrative processes and innovative financing mechanisms, but also to promote collaboration between the UN and private sector.
