Turan Baskan, For many years, he served at Middle East Technical University (METU) and made significant contributions to the development of the university’s administrative system. Between 1968 and 1989, Baskan served as Registrar (Head of Student Affairs) at METU. In this role, he played an important part in organizing student registration, admission, and graduation procedures, and in institutionalizing the university’s student affairs system. During his tenure, he worked on improving administrative processes and establishing a modern student management system in parallel with METU’s institutional growth. In recognition of his long years of service and institutional contributions to METU, the “Turan Baskan Service Award” was established in his memory. This award is presented to honor the outstanding contributions and dedicated work of administrative staff at the university. Turan Baskan Service Award Origin and Implementation: The awards are generally presented each year during the METU Day ceremony.
