Investigating the extrusion of alumina silicate pastes for synthesis of monolith zeolite A
Özcan, Ayşenur; Kalıpçılar, Halil; Department of Chemical Engineering (2005)
Zeolites are highly porous materials that are most commonly used in granular or beaded forms. In general, zeolite granules, beads or monoliths are manufactured by using an inorganic binder which helps to cement zeolite crystals together. However, this inorganic binder decreases the purity of the zeolite structures and accessibility to the zeolite pores. A new and relatively easy method was offered for the production of binderless zeolite A tubes and bars from amorphous alumina silicate extrudates in this st...
Investigation of gmpls applications in optical systems
Göken, Burcu; Ergül, Rüyal; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2005)
In this study, possible applications of label switching in large area, fully optical networks are investigated. The objective was to design a label assignment method by using Generalized Multi-Protocol Label Switching (GMPLS) concept to get an efficient optical network operation. In order to fulfill this objective, two new approaches were proposed: a label assignment method and a concatenated label structure. Label assignment method was designed to provide an efficient utilization of resources. Concatenated...
An investigation on plasma antennas
Tiğrek, Recep Fırat; Hızal, Altunkan; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2005)
The plasma antennas offer a new solution to new requirements that are imposed on antenna systems with the advancing communication technology and increasing demand on wider frequency bands. In this thesis the plasma antennas are investigated for the radar and communication applications. The interaction of gas and semiconductor plasma with electromagnetic waves is inspected theoretically, and several experiments on the interaction of microwaves with gas plasma are conducted. Results of these experiments show ...
Investigations on frequency beam scanning microstrip (bsms) antenna structures
Dündar, Burhan; Birand, Mehmet Tuncay; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2009)
Beam scanning Microstrip (BSMS) antenna is designed to work at center frequency of 10 GHz for using in the scanning applications of 9 GHz to 11 GHz band. The design parameters are defined and by using an Electromagnetic Simulation software program, the parameters are optimized. A Beam Scanning Microstrip Antenna is produced as a prototype and the measurement’s results are compared with theoretical results. In conclusion, the values of deviation between theoretical and experimental results are discussed.
Design of an FM-CW radar altimeter
Yetkil, Yaşar Barış; Demir, Şimşek; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2005)
Frequency modulated continuous wave (FM-CW) radar altimeters are used in civil and military applications. Proximity fuses, automatic cruise control systems of cars, radar altimeter of planes are examples to these applications. The goal of this thesis is to present a method for altitude determination using an FM-CW radar. For this purpose principles of radars and FM-CW systems are studied and related subjects are inspected. After this inspection, algorithms for altitude determination are evaluated. Consequen...
