Today, artificial intelligence (AI) tools are rapidly evolving and at the same time being heavily integrated into the workflows of UX/UI designers. This integration accelerates design processes while re-shaping it. This transformation increases the need for AI solutions that understand designers' needs and support creative production. This thesis aims to understand the considerations for designer-focused AI-enhanced support tools for UX/UI design. The thesis involves a two-stage user research project consisting of semi-structured interviews with UX/UI designers and a co-design workshop. The findings from the literature review and semi-structured interviews reveals the expectations of UX/UI designers from an AI-enhanced support tool, and these expectations plays a decisive role in forming the co-design workshop. The workshop's outcomes allows for the identification of key design considerations of AI-enhanced UX/UI tools that adapt to designers' work practices and needs. The findings indicate that UX/UI designers integrate AI tools selectively at different stages of the design process, including research support, data analysis, idea generation, UI and visual asset production, and prototyping. Also, use of these tools in UX/UI design workfloes leads to shifts in workflow, such as increased efficiency, enhanced communication, and the expansion of designers’ competencies and roles. The co-design workshop further articulates these patterns by translating designers’ experiences and expectations into design considerations for AI-Enhanced CSTs for UX/UI designers. These considerartions includes project-based workflow structures, mechanisms for selectively incorporating insights, customizable guidance tailored to different experience levels, non-disruptive feedback integration, and features supporting decision and version traceability.
