Chemical preparation of carbonated calcium hydroxyapatite powders at 37 degrees C in urea-containing synthetic body fluids
Bayraktar, D; Tas, AC (1999-01-01)
An important inorganic phase of synthetic bone applications, calcium hydroxyapatite (HA, Ca-10(PO4)(6)(OH)(2)), was prepared as a single-phase ceramic powder. Carbonated HA powders were formed from calcium nitrate tetrahydrate and diammonium hydrogen phosphate salts dissolved in aqueous 'synthetic body fluid' (SBF) solutions, containing urea (H2NCONH2), at 37 degrees C and pH of 7.4, by using a novel chemical precipitation technique. These powders were also found to contain trace amounts of Na and Mg impuri...
Chemical preparation of aluminum borate whiskers
Gonenli, IE; Tas, AC (2000-06-01)
Aluminum borate (9Al(2)O(3). 2B(2)O(3)) whiskers were chemically synthesized in potassium sulphate flux by using the starting chemicals of aluminum sulphate and boric acid. The synthesis temperature of 1075 degrees C was found to be the optimum with respect to whisker morphology. A tentative X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern was suggested for the whiskers produced after heating at 1150 degrees C. The product purity, phase composition, and whisker morphology were investigated by XRD, energy dispersive X-ray sp...
Chemical vapor deposition of molybdenum disulphide on platinum foil
Karamat, S.; Hassan, Muhammad Umair; Pan, Ji Sheng; Tabassam, Lubna; Oral, Ahmet (Elsevier BV, 2020-07-01)
Transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) of group -VIB (MX2, M = Mo, W; X = S, Se, Te, etc.) with sizeable bandgap exhibit different interesting physical and chemical properties which open up new avenues to their technological applications. However, refinement and expansion of growth of TMDCs are required to realize commercializable products and to bring these technological applications to consumer's market. Here, we present growth of MoS2 catalyst by ambient pressure chemical vapor deposition (CVD). A Pt f...
Chemical ionization of chloromethanes for matrix isolation spectroscopy
Hacaloğlu, Jale (1989-01-01)
A chemical ionization source from mass spectrometry has been used with CCl4, CHCl3 and CH2Cl2/argon mixtures for matrix isolation spectroscopy in the IR and visible-near UV regions. The major product absorptions in both regions have been observed and assigned previously. The comparison of positive and negative ion operation is striking for CCl4; the yields of CCl+3, CCl+4 and Cl+3 are increased and HCl−2 is not produced in positive ion operation.
Chemical preparation of the binary compounds of CaO-Al2O3 system by combustion synthesis
Uysal, O; Tas, AC (1997-05-07)
The binary compounds (C(3)A: Ca3Al2O6, C(12)A(7): Ca12Al14O33, CA: CaAl2O4, CA(2): CaAl4O7 and CA(6): CaAl12O19) of CaO-Al2O3 system have been synthesized as high compound-purity ceramic powders by using the Combustion Synthesis (CS) method. Materials characterization of the above-mentioned phases were performed by powder XRD, FTIR, SEM and EDXS. It has hereby been shown that by using this synthesis procedure it would be possible to manufacture high-purity ceramic powders of CA, CA(2), and C(12)A(7) at 850 ...
