This report studies longevity risk in Turkey and the early retirement implications of the EYT reform. Turkish survival probabilities for 1931–2015 for female and male are used to construct life tables, calculate retirement duration, and evaluate annuity present values under a fixed interest-rate assumption. Then a discount rate sensitivity analysis is constructed to examine the effects of increasing interest rates on present value behavior. The results indicate that earlier retirement ages can substantially increase expected pension payment periods when combined with improving longevity.
