This study investigates the applicability of infrastructure sustainability rating systems for Turkish highway projects through a case-based evaluation using the Envision rating system. Despite the growing integration of worldwide sustainability frameworks into infrastructure design, their adoption in Türkiye remains limited, particularly within the transportation sector. This study assesses a typical Turkish highway project with Envision v3 to determine the sustainability criteria that align with contemporary design and construction methodologies. In addition to the assessment, semi-structured interviews were performed with key stakeholders, including route engineers, managers, and environmental and social specialists, to evaluate the practical feasibility of integrating Envision criteria into future projects. The findings reveal that some credits pertaining to quality of life, leadership, and climate resilience are partially implemented in existing practices; however, others are underutilized due to legislative deficiencies, insufficient awareness, or contractual constraints. This study contributes to the literature by providing a practical framework for incorporating sustainability concepts into Turkish infrastructure development and identifying context-specific barriers and opportunities for advancement.
