Despite the rapid growth of children's yoga, the lack of standardized assessment tools for instructor competence remains a significant gap. The primary purpose of this study was to develop and validate the Child Yoga Content Knowledge Test (CYCKT) to measure the subject-matter expertise of certified child yoga teachers in Türkiye. This methodological study utilized a quantitative research design, collecting data from 202 certified instructors (99.5% female; μ age = 36.24). The 23-item multiple-choice instrument was developed through a systematic process involving blueprinting, item writing, and expert panel reviews. Psychometric properties were evaluated using the Rasch Measurement Model. Results indicated a strong fit to the model, with infit Mean Square (MNSQ) values ranging from 0.90 to 1.12 and outfit MNSQ values between 0.56 and 1.52, confirming the unidimensionality of the construct. The test demonstrated high reliability, with an item reliability of 0.98 and a person reliability of 0.90. The person separation index was 3.22, indicating that the test successfully differentiates instructors into at least three distinct ability levels (i.e., low, moderate, and high content knowledge competency). The findings suggest that the CYCKT is a robust and scientifically validated tool for assessing the professional competence of child yoga instructors. Given the diverse certification pathways in Türkiye, this instrument provides a necessary benchmark for standardizing teacher training and ensuring instructional safety. The study contributes to the professionalization of the field by shifting the focus toward evidence-based instructor qualifications.
