Although the demand for agile methodologies in organizations has grown exponentially, as a flexible and collaborative approach capable of enhancing organizations' success, their adoption requires serious attention to addressing impediments and barriers. In this study, a number of barriers have been identified and analyzed through an extensive literature review and consultations with domain experts from academia and industry, with the aim of assessing the influence of these challenges on the adoption of agile methodologies in Turkey's defense industry. By employing the Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) and MICMAC approaches, the causal relationships among the key barriers to agile adoption were mapped to reveal interdependencies and provide a layered, hierarchical structure and a systematic understanding of the impediments. These analyses were conducted based on data collected from questionnaire respondents. This study aims to provide a comprehensive framework that enhances awareness and understanding of the transition process and contributes to the defense industry in Turkey and its managers who face similar problems by laying the groundwork for agile adoption.
