Historical textiles offer a wealth of information regarding history, lifestyle, customs, folkloric values, the raw materials and techniques used in their production and the technological achivements of the period. There is limited data on dye and fiber analyses of historical textiles. In this context, determining the types of dyes, fibers and the state of deterioration of the fibers in historical textiles using analytical methods is important. In this study, some multicolored dress fabric artifacts probably from the 18th-19th centuries, as well as the multicolored home textiles as rugs and carpets obtained from two museums are analysed using HPLC, FTIR, and optical microscopy. The data obtained by those analyses regarding the types of fibers and dyes and the state of deterioration of fibers are discussed in relation to conservation state of artifacts and history of textile technology in Anatolia.
