This thesis examines the implementation of Lazuri elective courses within Türkiye’s Living Languages and Dialects (Yaşayan Diller ve Lehçeler, LLD) Program. Focusing on the teachers responsible for carrying the courses into practice, the study investigates how the courses are realized, enacted, and sustained within their everyday institutional settings.The research draws on qualitative data collected through semi-structured interviews with eight teachers who have taught Lazuri courses in public schools, representing the overwhelming majority of individuals known to have taught the course. Using thematic analysis, the study examines the Lazuri teachers’ personal linguistic trajectories, the grassroots realization of the course, the ways the teachers adapt and enact the course in practice, and the meanings they attach to the course as they carry it beyond the classroom. The thesis argues that minority language recognition within formal education does not automatically translate into durable institutional support or, by itself, create the necessary conditions for language revitalization and reversing language shift, but acquires meaning and practical significance through the sustained efforts of the actors who carry it into practice.
