Potential flow solutions with wakes over an ogive cylinder
Tuncer, İsmail Hakkı (American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), 1998-05-01)
An incompressible panel code is employed to compute the flow over an ogive cylinder body with an overall length of 7.5 diameter. Flow separation is modeled by vortex wakes attached to the base region and the leeward sides of the cylinder body. The computed surface pressures and integrated normal force and pitching-moment coefficients are found to be in good agreement with the experimental data up to 20-deg incidence. This favorable agreement suggests that the panel codes may be a computationally efficient t...
Potential Energy Surfaces for Vibrational Structure Calculations from a Multiresolution Adaptive Density-Guided Approach: Implementation and Test Calculations
Sparta, Manuel; Hoyvik, Ida-Marie; Toffolı, Danıele; Christiansen, Ove (American Chemical Society (ACS), 2009-07-30)
A multiresolution procedure to construct potential energy surfaces (PESs) for use in vibrational structure calculations is developed in the framework of the adaptive density-guided approach. The implementation of the method allows the construction of hybrid PESs with different mode-coupling terms calculated with a variety of combinations of electronic structure methods and basis sets. Furthermore, the procedure allows the construction of hybrid PESs that incorporate a variety of contributions and correction...

Potential Energy Surfaces for Rearrangements of Berson Trimethylenemethanes
Bozkaya, Ugur; Özkan, İlker (2012-03-08)
In this research, thermal rearrangements of the Berson trimethylenemethanes (Berson-TMMs) have been investigated by employing density functional theory (DFT) and high-level ab initio methods, such as the complete active space self-consistent field (CASSCF), multireference second-order Moller-Plesset perturbation theory (MRMP2), multireference configuration interaction singles and doubles (MRCISD), and coupled-cluster singles and doubles with perturbative triples [CCSD(T)]. In all computations Pople's polari...
Optimal aquifer dewatering schemes for excavation of collector line
TOKGOZ, M; Yılmaz, Koray Kamil; Yazıcıgil, Hasan (2002-07-01)
Groundwater flow modeling and optimization techniques are used jointly to determine the optimal dewatering system design for a trench type excavation (with 3,000 m total length) to be opened below the groundwater table in the Aksaray Organized Industrial District, Aksaray, Turkey. Four dewatering systems are simulated, optimized, and compared to choose the best system design. Two of the models are designed to minimize only the total amount of pumpage (linear programming models), while the other two explicit...
