Cell-vertex based parallel and adaptive explicit 3D flow solution on unstructured grids
Yilmaz, E; Kavsaoglu, MS; Akay, HU; Akmandor, IS (Informa UK Limited, 2001-01-01)
A parallel adaptive Euler flow solution algorithm is developed for 3D applications on distributed memory computers. Significant contribution of this research is the development and implementation of a parallel grid adaptation scheme together with an explicit cell vertex-based finite volume 3D flow solver on unstructured tetrahedral grids. Parallel adaptation of grids is based on grid-regeneration philosophy by using an existing serial grid generation program. Then, a general partitioner repartitions the gri...
Solution-based synthesis of silver-platinum core-shell nanowires with enhanced stability
Koylan, Serkan; Ünalan, Hüsnü Emrah; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2019)
This work describes a facile route for the synthesis of silver (Ag)-platinum (Pt) core-shell nanowires (NWs) with controlled diameter in the range of 63-96 nm. Optimum synthesis conditions were determined to obtain conformal and galvanic replacement free deposition of Pt on Ag NWs. Synthesized Ag-Pt core-shell NWs were examined using SEM, TEM and XPS. Further studies were conducted to compare the performances of Ag-Pt core-shell NW networks to those of pristine Ag NW networks. In this regard, electrochemica...
Simulation Based Optimal Sensor Actuator Positioning on a Fin Like Structure
Pedremasl, Nıma; Şahin, Melin; Acar, Erdem (2015-06-26)
Aircraft structures are subjected to high amplitude dynamic loads under service conditions; hence, it is necessary to determine their dynamic properties. Dynamic properties of a structure can be determined using simulation-based methods (e.g., finite element method) or using experimental modal analysis (EMA) methods. An EMA system should be lightweight and accurate so that it does not have a negative impact on the dynamic performance of the structure. For this purpose, the transducers (sensor and actuators)...
Solution processed aluminum-doped ZnO thin films for transparent heater applications
Tonbul, Beyza; Can, Hilal; Öztürk, Tayfur; Akyıldız, Hasan (2021-06-01)
A study was carried out to tailor the properties of ultrasonic spray pyrolysis deposited Al-doped ZnO (AZO) thin films suitable for transparent heater applications. For this purpose, the influences of solvent/precursor type and molarity, Al-doping concentration, nozzle to substrate distance, solution flow rate, carrier gas flow, substrate temperature, and post-deposition annealing on the microstructure, electrical, optical properties, and heating/ deicing behaviors of the films were investigated. The optimi...
