The reaction of AgNO2/TMSCl with olefins affords nitrosonitrate, which arc converted into (alpha-nitroximes in good yield. Both nitrosonitrate and nitroximes are converted with acids into furoxane in high yield. The reaction of AgNO2 with TMSCl furnished first N2O3 and hexamethylsiloxane. The nitroso nitrates are obtained by addition of N2O3 to the olefines.

In our research group, chiral bifunctional squaramides with different basic units have been synthesized and evaluated in various asymmetric reactions. Cinchona alkaloid-derived organocatalysts are widely employed in various asymmetric transformations, yielding products with high enantiopurity. In this respect, a bifunctional quinine-derived sulfonamide organocatalyst was developed to catalyze the asymmetric sulfa-Michael reaction of naphthalene-1-thiol withtrans-chalcone derivatives.
